Jane and Jonathan have been initiates in the Santo Daime for over 50 combined years. They have spent extensive time in Brazil creating and maintaining close relationships with Daime communities, studying the doctrine, leading healing workshops, and studying and participating in mediumship ceremonies for over 20 years.

The Church of The Holy Light of The Queen

Our church was founded in 1996 in Ashland, Oregon by Jonathan Goldman and Jane Seligson, who lead the church to this day. CHLQ was founded with the intention to perform the rituals and ceremonies of The Santo Daime tradition as closely as possible to how they are done in their homeland of Brazil. This means singing the hymns in the language they were, and are, received in, which is Portuguese, as well as solely importing the Santo Daime tea from Brazil. CHLQ became legal in Oregon in 2010 and retains the right to import its sacrament, as well as conduct its rituals without any interference from the US government. CHLQ is committed to creating a safe space of healing and transformation for all who come. We find that a space that has a strong heart-centered container, honors the roots of the tradition, and is energetically clean is the most conducive environment for authentic spiritual work to occur. We believe in mutual respect and personal responsibility amongst our community, and consider ourselves stewards of this beautiful medicine and tradition.

Dedicated to Preserving the Roots of our Tradition

An important part of our founding principle and journey as a church has always been maintaining and nurturing personal relationships with long-standing communities of The Santo Daime Doctrine all over Brazil. We see ourselves as a point of Light in a larger matrix, and as part of the worldwide community of the Daime. From the founding of our church we have always, and continue to source our sacrament from communities who have been making the sacred tea for generations, following traditional methods that are specific and particular to the Santo Daime tradition.
